Rebisco and DepEd boost Public School Canteens in Pasay City with Best Practices Competition
In a significant step towards supporting public school canteens across the Philippines, Rebisco
was able to improve and rehabilitate more than 60 school canteens through its school canteen
dress-up project from 2022 to 2024. Following this success, we further strengthened our
commitment with public schools by looking into the operations of canteens specific to food
safety.
The school canteen is the second dining area of school children, and Rebisco believes that
school canteens should have standards on food safety and quality. We introduced an inter-school
competition called “The Best in Public School Canteen Practices," to promote food safety
in canteens. The pilot implementation was in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office of Pasay City, where 28 public schools in the division were
invited to participate.
Moreover, to further support DepEd on school health and nutrition programs in the school
canteens, Rebisco strives to develop products with fortification, by complying with the DepEd
Order No. 13 s. 2017 on food product categorization.
Rebisco will continue to be a key partner of DepEd in promoting nutrition and food safety in
public schools. By combining infrastructure improvements and operational enhancements in
public school canteens, Rebisco upholds its position as a strong partner in advancing shared
goals for education.
Congratulations to our teams for collaborating together to achieve this successful event!
